2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District
The opaque color of this year's Cyrus-Ryan foreshadows the depth and structure that the wine delivers. Big fresh blackberry and dark chocolate are firmly concentrated on the nose. Crushed violets and graphite come through on the background while the first sip delivers an amazing lushness. Intense deep cooking chocolate and anise deliver a spicy sweetness on the palette. The tannins are intense but chalky suggesting great potential for holding, around 10-12 years of patience in the cellar would greatly benefit this vintage (2021-2023).

Soft and downright dainty after a decade in the bottle. These guys have not changed their formula in 30 years. Their secret is the fruit from their high altitude mountain vineyard, their winemaker and their personal preference for profoundly local style. This wine is balanced with tannins fully melded. A beauty in its prime.
